2004 was filled with the promise of our twins'
arrival in December. And 2005 has been all about changing
diapers.
We found out in May 2004 that we were not
only pregnant, but having twins and our due date was January
17,2005.However,knowing my body and knowing twins don't always
make 40 weeks, I predicted that they would be born on December
26th! That would have been David's 35th birthday and what
a present. I would not even have had to wrap them.
Well, the kids showed up on December 23rd
and on his birthday three days later, David was quite content.
And yes, we got the two tax deductions with 8 days to spare.
Now, of course, we did not know what they
were, so we guessed and picked lots of names. I however, told
the world that it would be a boy and a girl. I just had a
feeling and sure enough I was right. So, now everyone is asking
me for the lotto numbers. I have made too many predictions
that have been right on the nose.
Our New Year's was quite special to say the
least as we rang in the year changing a diaper and feeding
a baby times two.
I stopped auditioning for film and tv in
July of last year- it was too
hard to get around and the bigger I got, the less I could
move. I did audition commercially until my ninth month and
it's a good thing my doctor did not know this as he had put
my on bed rest in November. The last six weeks of the pregnancy
were hard because I can't sit still or have others wait on
me, at least not for so long. It was a bit insane. The last
ten days were brutal as my weight gain was almost a pound
a day.
Once we were home, the c-section was easy
to recover from and by the time David's parents left, we felt
well fed and rested and had enough diapers for a month. We
weren't quite sure we would ever leave the house as this year
was the wettest on record ever for LA. But we finally saw
sunlight and took the kids on the town.
Since their birth, life has not been the
same. And there is never enough time to do it all, although
I come close. For those of you on this list who are parents,
we get it now. For those of you who are not- trust me- life
is different, but you will never want it to be any other way.
We keep getting begged to leave the kids and go out, but truth
be told, we love being home. They are the best kids in the
land. Yes, it's our opinion, but they are truly cool and mellow-
must take after their Dad.
They turned five months this passed Monday.
We have hit milestones
like laughing, smiling, sitting up and rolling over and the
kids are even babbling- must be like their momma. They are
also sleeping through the night which helps mommy and daddy
a lot- sleep is such a good thing. We have no idea what we
did to deserve that good fortune- but we thank our lucky stars!
I have started auditioning commercially and
will start auditioning theatrically next month. I just wanted
to enjoy the kids at this stage as I will never get it again.
And Hollywood is not going anywhere. Also, this is a quiet
time in LA for the industry, so no reason to beat the pavement
just yet.
David loves his job and comes home often
to see the kids and we spend great weekends together. We go
to the park to play in our softball league and have quite
a few volunteers for the bench position since it entails taking
care of the kids. Saturdays, we do anything we want and take
the kids with us every where. They have even been to a couple
of pubs!- Milk and tans for them.
Our favorite time of day is bedtime- but
not because we can not wait to have them in bed- but because
bathing them is a blast and then baby massage and jammies
and story time is the best. They usually fall asleep in our
arms and then we put them in their cribs and watch them. It's
amazing how captivating two little beings are.
We are saving up to buy a house this year
and hopefully it will be our blessing for the holidays and
for the kids' first birthday- my that sounds impossible to
believe that it is so near by. We are probably going to have
a big bash at the end of the year, so if you live in town
near us- beware- we are planning to celebrate all holidays
in December and a ton of birthdays and what the heck- New
Years while we are at it. Of course, I will give plenty of
notice to all.
I will be updating my website this month
with more photos, news and links. My national commercial stopped
running this February, but ran all last year which helped
pay for the kids- they have so much gear these days. If I
get a part for tv or film, I will send out a notice and post
it on the site. But if you have not done so already, do sign
my website's guest book. I would love to have it look like
I am really famous so I need loads of signatures.
We will send another update with a photo
or two at the end of the year. And as often as I can, the
website will state the latest antics. For now, we would love
to hear from all of you and how you are all doing. And that
means emails, and photos and details of your families and
so forth. Don't be stingy with the information and don't assume
we don't want to hear from you. We do. I have time every day
to check emails and will reply to all who write us.
Well, that is it for the Hilde and David
Report. We are fine and happy and enjoying our kids. We love
being parents and are more in love than ever. Sunny California
keeps us happy. And as the silly commercial goes in CA- Happy
Parents make Happy Children- Happy Children come from California-
if you don't live here, you may not get it the joke.
We promise another update in the Fall, but
if you get antsy for news, just email us and we will be glad
to fill you in. And for your enjoyment, check out the four
photos- one is attached and the other three will follow in
separate emails.
Love,
Hilde, David, Sam and Victoria
